Hi!
My name is Sam and this is a collection of items I’ve made to satisfy my creative passions. I am an Industrial designer by trade where I spend most days designing Lights @ Christopher Boots in Fitzroy.
2020-21 was a year of reflection for me.
During that year I spent a lot of time thinking about what truly matters to me and how I really want to spend my time. Time is so sacred and work typically takes up a huge chunk of it.
My latest passion is making ceramics on the wheel.
I've fallen deeply in love with the process because it forces me to be present and slow the fuck down. Time seems to stand still when I’m sitting at the wheel.
Now I have a surplus of ceramic pieces all 1 of a kind so now I need to start selling to fund my lessons and clear space for more.
I’m currently learning with master potter Gary Healey.
Every Thursday evening we spend an hour and half in his Driveway improving my throwing technique and gradually honing my technique so I become better at throwing more complex forms consistently.
The enormity of things to learn and master in pottery is mind boggling. The speed at which you can learn the techniques is very slow and cannot be rushed otherwise bad habits can creep in and can be hard to unlearn.
This is probably the reason why I've fallen so in love with this medium. It tickles every bit of my curiosity and I think it will continue to do so for many more years to come.
So if you see anything you like, please consider buying it because you'll be doing me a couple of favours by doing so.
1 - By helping me continue my passion for making and to possibly make it my full time gig.
2 - By keeping my home from over flowing with the things I make.
3 - By pushing me towards my dream of making things every day for the rest of my life.
Thank you.
It means so much to me and no words can describe how grateful I am.
Sam
